Seasonal Pier Removal (Fall)

LOCATION: Osterville

COMPLETION DATE: November 2021

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Seasonal piers are permitted by a town conservation committee to reduce the environmental impact on wetland resource values, marine fisheries, wildlife habitat, erosion and sediment control, and recreation. Fall pier removals eliminate the possibility of ice damage to occur during the winter months. When a waterway freezes, ice has the ability to damage or dislodge the vertical supports from the ground. Seasonal piers are installed in the Spring and removed in the Fall. They are designed to be installed in the same location and height each year, with minimal disturbance to the surrounding area.
